Biography

Kevin Ledo's paintings often flirt with prevalent persuasive imagery and ideologies. Having once been a devout catholic and later educated as an illustrator, Ledo's work is tangled in perceptions of idealism, beauty and divinity and more recently in mythology and symbolism. Recent bodies of work include "The Guiding Light", "Desire" and "A Vision in the Night," which celebrate and scrutinize persuasive content and imagery of women found mass media.

Ledo grew up heavily influenced by music and a mix of underground cultures, from skate and rave, to punk and metal to hip hop. Today, music and urban cultures still play a major role in his life and creativity. While art and painting have always been present in Ledo's life, he set out on his path to becoming a full time painter in 2005. Some influence and inspiration come from artists such as Alphonse Mucha, Dali, Chuck Close, Ron Mueck, and Brian Jugen as well as periods in art history such as Analytical Cubism and Dutch and Flemish Renaissance paintings.

Ledo is recently exhibited in ModeMuseum in Hasselt, Belgium and is represented by Ayden Gallery in Vancouver. He is also an active member of the EN MASSE collective. Ledo has been featured in Juxtapoz Magazine, Cool Hunting and numerous other publications and medias including CBC Radio1 and the Montreal Mirror. Ledo's paintings are internationally collected.
